Understanding patterns.
Creating meaningful change.
At Nurterra Psychotherapy, therapy is approached as more than symptom management alone.
Many clients who seek therapy are thoughtful, insightful, and highly self-aware, yet still find themselves repeating the same emotional and relational patterns. This appears in relationships, self-worth, perfectionism, anxiety, emotional overwhelm, or identity.
Our work focuses on understanding the deeper experiences, defenses, and relational dynamics that shape how people move through the world.
Treatment is collaborative, exploratory, and tailored to the individual, integrating psychodynamic therapy, attachment-focused work, EMDR, ERP, and trauma-informed approaches to support meaningful and lasting change.

About Kinga & Nurterra
Kinga Pieta, LCSW
My approach to therapy is relational, exploratory, and grounded in understanding the emotional experiences that shape how people experience themselves, others, and the world around them.
I work with adults and young adults navigating anxiety, OCD, trauma, perfectionism, relationship difficulties, emotional overwhelm, and longstanding difficulties that may persist even in the presence of insight or self-awareness. Many clients I work with appear highly functional externally while internally struggling with chronic self-criticism, disconnection, anxiety, or feeling “stuck” in ways that are difficult to shift alone.
My work integrates psychodynamic therapy, attachment-focused work, EMDR, parts work, and evidence-based approaches including CBT and Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP). Therapy is tailored to the individual and may involve developing insight, processing difficult experiences, strengthening emotional awareness, and building greater flexibility in how clients relate to themselves and others.
Attachment & Relationship Patterns
Exploring recurring relational patterns, difficulty trusting others, fear of rejection or abandonment, emotional dependency, chronic self-protection, and struggles with intimacy or vulnerability.
Anxiety & OCD
Treatment for chronic worry, intrusive thoughts, compulsive behaviors, perfectionism, avoidance, overthinking, and anxiety that interferes with relationships, identity, or daily functioning.
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) are integrated alongside deeper exploratory work when appropriate.
Areas of Focus
Therapy at Nurterra psychotherapy supports adults and young adults navigating anxiety, trauma, OCD, relationship difficulties, emotional overwhelm, identity concerns, and longstanding interpersonal patterns.
Trauma & Emotional Processing
Therapy focused on the lasting impact of trauma, emotional neglect, attachment wounds, and overwhelming experiences that continue to shape self-worth, emotional regulation, relationships, and patterns of self-protection.
Depression & Self-Esteem
Exploring the emotional patterns underlying hopelessness, self-criticism, disconnection, shame, loss of identity, chronic emptiness, or feeling emotionally “stuck” despite insight and high functioning.
Who I Work With
Many clients who seek therapy appear highly functional externally while struggling internally with chronic self-criticism, emotional overwhelm, perfectionism, relationship difficulties, or patterns they understand intellectually but still find difficult to change.
Therapy is collaborative, exploratory, and tailored to the individual. Depending on a client’s needs and goals, sessions may involve:
-
exploring recurring emotional and relational patterns
-
processing difficult experiences and trauma
-
developing insight into coping strategies and self-protective patterns
-
building greater emotional awareness, flexibility, and self-understanding
The pace and structure of therapy vary based on each client’s needs, goals, and readiness.

EMDR Therapy
Exploring how early relational experiences continue to shape trust, vulnerability, emotional regulation, and connection in adult relationships.
Identifying unconscious patterns, defenses, and emotional conflicts that influence behavior, relationships, and sense of self.
Exploring the different emotional “parts” or internal states that develop through life experiences, helping clients better understand inner conflict, self-protection, emotional intensity, and patterns of relating.
Using structured, evidence-based interventions to address anxiety, OCD, compulsions, avoidance, perfectionism, and intrusive thought patterns.
Supporting the processing of distressing experiences and trauma in ways that reduce emotional reactivity without requiring extensive verbal retelling.
